Tomato Garlic Soup


-A first try at the tomato basil garlic soup - a well-known food by Stephanie and I as we tried EVERY ONE we could. Didn't have all the ingredients so I modified it. It has 12 cloves of garlic in it! And that's for just 4 servings! It's roasted, so a bit sweeter. Not too bad!

Past Foods

Okay, just some past gastronomical wonders to relive...then I'll make sure I get to the new ones from then on! I couldn't find Lee's key for the double pic set up...

-And to start with the Grand Hotel. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's a big showcase. Yes, its presentation is amazing and the food will tantilize your tastebuds no matter what. You always have to go in with some sort of adventure. I've said more than once, "This is great! What is it?"
This is filet mingnon with fall vegetables (notice the acorn squash). One of the best parts is I didn't pay for it. Yay, end of the year Grand party!




-Herb and crab encrusted whitefish.













- Stephanie and her lamb chops.

















-Creme brule. With the funky colored sugar fin in the back which I really had no desire to eat. Really kind of destroyed a bit of the goodness of it all. Especially when the colors seeped into the creme part. Ugh.

-The best dessert this year (and I chide myself for not getting it this time), raspberry bread pudding with creme.















-Switching to the Benelux countries, the Cheery Cheese Lady of Amsterdam as told to us by Rick Steves. Love Amsterdam, love Rick Steves and really do love the cheese!











-Just to proclaim my love of proffetjes as well. The three plates Stephanie and I split near the flowermarket in Amsterdam. Still looking for the perfect recipe for my pan. I believe I just have to go back the Benelux area (between October 1 and March 31 apparently since we missed them by one day in Bruges!).











-Stephanie and Trace on our good food but bad for you food tour in Brugge. This the mayo laden frities of Belgium. It went on to include beer, waffles, gelato and more beer. We just never found a food place, but did find all these other things. We finally got a cheese/cracker plate where we fought over the vegetable extras that were added on the plate.


-What we thought of mussels in Belgium (close to Brussels). Yep, the little guys really didn't do much for us. But we were proud we tried them. Thank God Stephanie I split the crock full!









-Delicious (and cheap) tomato and broccoli soup in Ghent. With bread and apples!

Ah...I know now to take more pictures of food. And have after this trip. Hopefully, someday the dream of a "Food, beer and history" tour company will come true....

Kind of.

Food.... Mmmm....

So, as anyone could probably tell from our blogs, Katie and I both love food and eat a lot of it. While enjoying our chicken dinner in Frankenmuth recently, we laughed about how funny it would be to have a blog in which we could showcase all of the photos we take of our food. Soon after that meeting, Katie actually followed through and created one! Here's to all of our delicious, pretty, weird, and fun foods...
